A Developers Guide to SQL Server Integration Services – BSDA Meeting for November 12 2009

We’ve all been there. We develop a new system to replace some older system long overdue for retirement. The dread always comes around the data conversion step. Having to figure out the quickest, easiest way to get the data from the old system to the new. What most developers don’t realize is that they already have an extremely powerful tool for data conversion: SQL Server Integration Services. SSIS isn’t just for feeding your warehouse, it’s also a great tool for data migration. At the next BSDA meeting Robert C. Cain will be presenting “A Developers Guide to SQL Server Integration Services”. Come get an introduction and learn how you can be using SSIS for your projects.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm at the normal location, the New Horizons training center in Homewood AL.

Robert Cain is a Microsoft MVP in SQL Development, and works as a Senior BI Architect for ComFrame. His main responsibility is the SQL Server Business Intelligence Data Warehouse for the NASA ARES project. He is also a contributing author to the book “SQL Server MVP Deep Dives”. Prior to his current position, Robert spent five years working for a south eastern nuclear power company designing and developing the BI/Data Warehouse as well as leading the development team. Robert also spent 10 years as a senior consultant, working for a variety of customers in the Birmingham area using Visual Basic and C#. He also maintains the popular blog http://arcanecode.com .
